Twenty-two members of the New York City Police Department are set to trade their precincts for purpose this November, embarking on an eight-day humanitarian journey to Ghana under the banner of the African Law Enforcement Organization (ALEO), a mission that embodies compassion, service, and a steadfast commitment to humanity. The themed initiative, “To Serve and to Protect Beyond Borders,” aims to bring hope, smiles, and meaningful support to underprivileged children and vulnerable communities in selected parts of Ghana from November 10 to 18, 2026. A Mission Rooted in Service ALEO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit fraternal organization of active and retired law enforcement and security professionals, based in Jamaica, New York. Under the leadership of its President, Detective Chibuzo C. Amadi, the organization brings together members who share a common heritage and a dedication to public service — both in uniform and in the communities they come from. The Ghana mission marks a significant step in ALEO’s work, extending the organization’s commitment to service beyond policing and beyond the borders of New York City. It reflects the belief that the values at the core of law enforcement — protection, unity, and community responsibility — carry meaning wherever there are people in need. Strengthening International Ties In addition to its humanitarian activities, the delegation will engage with Ghanaian officials. The officers are scheduled to visit the Ghana Police Service Headquarters on November 10, the day of their arrival, fostering professional exchange and goodwill between law enforcement in the United States and Ghana. The delegation will also pay a courtesy call at Jubilee House, the seat of the Presidency. A Community-Driven Effort The mission was made possible in part through ALEO member and NYPD officer Mr. William Apau, popularly known as Ministerapau, founder of the Magho Foundation, who connected the organization with schools and an orphanage in Ghana that his foundation has previously supported. The humanitarian mission is organized by ALEO, with the Magho Foundation, Afro Pop, and Exotical Sponges supporting the initiative as sponsors. Kindness That Restores Dignity For many children facing difficult circumstances, such acts of kindness represent more than material assistance. They offer encouragement, restore dignity, and serve as reminders that they have not been forgotten. As preparations continue for the November visit, the mission carries a powerful message: true service knows no borders, and even the smallest act of kindness can make a lasting difference in someone’s life. About ALEO The African Law Enforcement Organization (ALEO) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit fraternal organization of active and retired law enforcement and security professionals based in Jamaica, New York, dedicated to public service, community engagement, and strengthening ties between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
