NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 2 – Ireland Kenya has changed its name to the Irish Chamber of Commerce Kenya in a move aimed at strengthening trade and investment links between Kenya and Ireland. The organisation unveiled its new identity on October 29 at a reception hosted by Ireland’s Ambassador to Kenya, Caitríona Ingoldsby, and chamber chairperson Katherine Muldoon at the Irish Residence in Nairobi. The rebrand, announced on November 1, comes nearly 13 years after the organisation was established in December 2013 with the support of the Embassy of Ireland. The chamber said the new identity would strengthen its role in connecting businesses in the two countries, providing market information and helping companies identify trade and investment opportunities. “For nearly thirteen years we have connected Irish and Kenyan business, and this identity says plainly what we do,” said Muldoon. “We help members understand what is happening on the other side, meet the right people and turn existing opportunities into trade and investment,” she added. The new logo features a shamrock, an Irish national symbol, with its roots representing business links between the two countries. Its three leaves represent the chamber’s focus on representing members, providing market information and supporting business growth. Previously known as Business Ireland Kenya, the organisation has built a network of Kenyan, Irish and international companies and professionals through business events and industry forums. It said it would retain its focus on business networking while expanding its work in facilitating cross-border trade and investment. The chamber has also launched a new website and is seeking to attract more businesses and organisations interested in commercial opportunities between the two markets.
