The R54 million fraud and corruption trial involving former Acting National Police Commissioner Khomotso Phahlane and five co-accused has been postponed to next Monday. This is to allow the conclusion of the Local Government Elections and give the accused residing outside Gauteng an opportunity to vote. The accused face charges linked to two allegedly irregular police contracts involving software procurement, dating back to 2015 . Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) spokesperson Henry Mamothame says, “The trial was scheduled to start on Tuesday, 3 November 2026. However, all parties agreed to a postponement. The accused are facing charges relating to two allegedly irregular software procurements. One was intended for use during the #feesmustfall protests in October 2015, while the second was allegedly used to wipe cell phone records and messages at the time Phalane was under investigation by the Hawks over the blue lights police tender.” Related video | Former Acting National Police Commissioner Khomotso Phahlane has claimed innocence: – Report by Siphesihle Nhlapo
