Western Cape police say they will maintain high visibility across the province to ensure that voters are safe. Spokesperson, Andre Traut, says they have implemented firm operational plans with other agencies to deal with lawlessness, intimidation and other threats that could affect the local government elections. The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi, emphasised that all members must carry out their duties within the confines of the law, while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. He reiterated that the confidence placed in the police by the public must be upheld, and that there would be no room for lawlessness, intimidation or any attempts to threaten the democratic process.
