The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) in the Western Cape says an announcement is expected early next month about the implementation of water restrictions in the province. It says dam levels reflect a minor decrease this week, compared to the previous week. The combined dam levels of the province stand at just over 79%. Provincial Head Ntombizanele Bila-Mupariwa says the department will continue to monitor the province’s water situation closely. “We urge all water users to remain mindful of their consumption and use water responsibly. Water conservation is indeed a collective responsibility, and every effort contributes to the sustainable management of our water resources. We are also counting down to the 2nd of November, when we are going to rerun the water resource model to confirm the need for and magnitude of water restrictions,” says Bila-Mupariwa.
