October the 30th, 2026 – Air Montenegro is planning to introduce Zagreb flights which will operate three times a week as of next month. Air Montenegro plans to operate on the route between Podgorica and Zagreb within the framework of the Public Service Obligation (PSO) programme in Montenegro. According to information Croatian Aviation received, the planned flights are currently scheduled from the 24th of November this year with three rotations per week. Air Montenegro has otherwise been given the opportunity to operate flights on several international routes within the Montenegrin Public Service Obligation (PSO) programme, and among them is the route that will connect Podgorica and Zagreb. The very first rotation is currently planned, as stated, for the 24th of November this year. The flights are scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, which means a total of three weekly rotations until the end of the winter timetable. The airline is also expected to continue operating the flights in the summer timetable period next year, which is the period from the end of March to the end of October 2027. The arrival of the aircraft from Podgorica at Zagreb Airport has been planned for early in the morning, just after 08:00, while departure of the aircraft from Zagreb towards Podgorica is planned at 08:50. Embraer E195 aircraft with a capacity of 118 seats in the carrier’s fleet are planned for operating the flights on this route. This means that Air Montenegro will offer a total of 12,508 seats between Podgorica and Zagreb this winter on the 53 announced rotations. The introduction of this route within the PSO programme is otherwise important in scope for the connectivity of the two capitals and opens up an additional travel option for passengers between Croatia and Montenegro, between which there is currently no direct air route. Zagreb and Podgorica have potential for travel by different categories of passengers, from business and institutional to tourist and those travelling to visit family and friends. Details about ticket sales, exact times of return flights and the final implementation of the schedule depend on the carrier’s announcement and official information for the winter timetable 2026/2027. It is expected that the carrier will release tickets for sale soon, and in the event of administrative difficulties, a postponement of the date of the first rotation is possible, but there is no doubt that the route will soon be in operation. Previously, Ryanair operated on the route between Podgorica and Zagreb. The route was introduced back in September 2021, operated mainly twice a week, on Thursdays and Saturdays, with A320 aircraft with a capacity of up to 180 seats. The route was discontinued at the end of October 2023, and Ryanair justified that move by the increase in airport fees in the capital of Montenegro. Croatia Airlines also previously operated on this route, in the period from the end of June 2008 to the beginning of the summer timetable 2013, three times a week with Dash Q400 aircraft with a capacity of 76 seats. After more than three years without flights, Air Montenegro will soon reconnect the two capital cities.
